Welcome back Skaters, Parents/Guardians!

We hope you had a wonderful summer!  As fall approaches, our thoughts turn to winter sports, the 2010 Olympics, and another fun-filled skating season at the Pickering Skating Club!

The upcoming season officially starts on Monday, September 21st.  Completed forms and payment can be returned by mail, through the mail slot in our office door by the Delaney rink. You will note that prices vary depending upon the number of skating days available in each offered session (as shown in brackets).  Discounts are applicable for families with more than one immediate family member registered in one of our programs, or, if registering one family member for two or more Canskate sessions/week (see registration form for details). All skaters are required to pay an annual Skate Canada Fee for insurance and other benefits as outlined in the Membership Handbook.  Please pick up your copy of this booklet from our office during any Canskate session.

Registration and payment must be received 7 days in advance of the first day of skating for your session.  Since each skater advances at his/her individual rate of achievement, a skater can be registered at anytime during the season with pro-rated fees.  Private coaching is also available for any child or adult, regardless of skill level.  Please see us in the office for details.

New this year is an adult "open" session on Sundays, 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Adults are asked to book private or semi-private lessons for this session.  If enough interest is shown, group lessons may be offered.  Adults are always welcome to take lessons during Canskate sessions with their children as well.  Please remember that helmets are mandatory for beginners.

Pickering Skating Club is proud to offer excellent professional coaching.  For Pre-schoolers, there is one coach for every 7 skaters, and Canskaters have one coach for every 8 skaters.  In addition, numerous "Program Assistants" (older figure skaters who volunteer) devote their time, attention and skills to assist your children enhance their skating abilities.

We are most excited to announce that this is an Ice Show year and we look forward to watching all our skaters, no matter what their age or abilities, show us their talents!  The Ice Show is scheduled for Saturday, April 10th, 2010, and includes lots of preparation, practices, lights, cameras and costumes!  Of course, the Ice Show, like everything else in our Club, is run entirely by volunteers, so we will be calling upon you to assist in any way possible.  It's a great way to learn more about the sport while supporting your child and making new friends.

We look forward to seeing you at the rink, and if you have any questions, please leave us a message on the Club phone (905 420-4117), send us an e-mail (pickeringskating@bellnet.ca), or check our website (www.skatecanada-pickering.com).  New information is posted as well on the bulletin boards and in the window of the office.  You are always welcome to come into the office anytime during Canskate sessions and we'll be glad to help you!
