Off-Ice Training:

  • Figure skaters need power, balance, strength, flexibility and endurance to be successful.
  • According to the Canadia Society of Exercise Physiology in order to achieve health benefits from exercise children (5-11) & youth (12-17) should accumulate AT LEAST 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity DAILY.
  • Our Club is pleased to offer two off-ice programs and an optional evaluation program this season to help our skaters attain their skating goals while improving overall fitness levels.

1) Jump Rope Techniques 

       2011-2012 Registration Form

2)  Sk8Strong DVD Off-Ice Training Program

  • Warm up and Training routines created specifically for figure skaters, both male and female, all ages and levels (Youth, Competitve or Adult).
  • Programs created by physical therapist who is an off-ice trainer and coach, and an experienced strength and conditioning specialist
  • Cost $40/DVD
  • Order from Club Office during CanSkate office hours.

3)  Evaluation by Dynamic Balance Chiropractic 

  • History/Consultation (Postural Analysis/Scoliosis Screening)
  • Computerized thermal and surface EMG
  • Group flexibility/strength testing to baseline for Sk8Strong program
  • Evaluation Cost $90 (check your employee benefits plan as this evaulation may be covered)
